Look, nobody's going to say that Vol. 2 has a bad soundtrack, because the inclusion of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" alone ensures it's totally awesome, but again, it's simply struggled to out-do the iconic brilliance of Awesome Mix Vol. 1.

James Gunn shouldn't really feel bad about this, though: "Hooked on a Feeling", "Spirit in the Sky", "I Want You Back", "Cherry Bomb" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" aren't exactly easy to compete with, and the use of music in the first film was generally so memorable that any sequel would barely be able to compete.

Still, the music felt a little more inconsistent this time, and though the uses of "Mr. Blue Sky", "The Chain" and "Father and Son" absolutely hit the mark, it didn't feel quite as water-tight and perfectly judged all the way through.
