Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: 10 Reasons The Original Is Better

3. Less Forced Humour

Though Vol. 2 is a frequently hilarious film, some of the humour does fall rather flat simply because it feels awkwardly forced into scenes where it has no business being.

Much like Avengers: Age of Ultron in particular, serious scenes are often undermined by relentless quips and sight gags, and as such it can feel a little exhausting in a two-hour-plus film.

The first film's humour felt so organic and unique, and it's fair to say that audiences perhaps cut it a little extra slack because it was just so different to anything else the MCU had released at the time. The second time around, however, there's definitely the feeling that Gunn is pandering to audiences a lot more and timing the gags by a metronome.

Sometimes scenes just need to breathe, and they don't always require accompanying cheeky one-liners.
