Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: 12 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

6. Why Wasn't Ego's Earth Attack Mentioned Elsewhere In The MCU?

The Question: Considering the magnitude of Ego's blue blob attack on Earth, which presumably killed at least a few people, and the fact that the film takes place before several prominent MCU films (such as Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War), why hasn't it been referenced anywhere? Surely this would be big news?

The Likely Answer: "Because reasons", basically. Nobody had the foresight to anticipate Ego's attack a few years ago, because considering that Age of Ultron started shooting before the first Guardians even came out, why the Hell would they?

The in-universe answer is probably something along the lines of these alien attacks being common enough now that they're not huge news anymore...or something. It's unsatisfying perhaps, but such is the nature of complex cinematic universes.
