Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2: 6 Things We Learned From EW's New Concept Art

5. Groot Isn't The Same

That should go without saying, given that Groot sacrificed himself at the end of the first movie and returned as a dancing tiny baby version of himself. And of course the first tease showed a silhouette of the original team with Groot still miniaturised.

As part of the Entertainment Weekly reveal, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz basically confirmed that Groot is going to be a new character. We will fundamentally be treated to a very different Groot from the "stoic man-tree" of the first film:

“He doesn’t have the wisdom and experience of that Groot. He’s a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that’s sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?”

So, in essence, he's going to be a youthful, wise-cracking (can you wise crack "I am Groot"?!) side-kick who will probably be a thorn in Drax's side, given the fact that he's been aligned with him in both images we've seen so far. Sounds like they want him to steal the show.
