You know what you're getting with a Chris Pratt performance: he'll always be the most charismatic guy in the room, he's charming in a sort of bumbling way and he sells the emotional heart of the story very well. The same can be said of his part in Vol 2, where the story of his paternity comes into focus more.

He's still the same swaggering hero, high on his own supply and full of wise-cracks but he's saddled with more complexity thanks to the revelation that he's a half-Celestial and that enables Pratt to add more layers to his performance. You can almost see his child-like enthusiasm at having someone to show off to, and while it derails him a little, he's still able to swing back for some great hero moments.

It's arguably a shame that we won't get to see him flexing his power muscles now that the source has been destroyed - since it would have been great to see him exploring his limits in increasingly ridiculous ways - but at least we got that joyful Pac-Man moment.

And it might be harsh, but it's right that he won't get a happy ending yet.
