Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2: Every Character Ranked Worst To Best
13. Meredith Quill
It's nice to see Laura Haddock's Meredith return for the Missouri-set prologue sequence to Vol 2: seeing her vibrant and full of the joys of life and love helps sell the tragedy of her death a little more. And you can see something of Peter Quill's childlike spirit in the way she interacts with Ego.
She doesn't really have a great deal to do before she disappears, but she's a major enough character to warrant inclusion.
And she's actually more important when she's not on screen, as Ego reveals that he genuinely did love her and had to deal with her as a distraction from his plot to take over the universe. When he admits that he put the tumour in her brain it's a pretty big gut-punch, but as an inspiration to Peter casting off his charms, it's completely authentic. And it helps that Chris Pratt's performance at this point is so good, too.
