Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: Predicting Who Every New Cast Member Will Play
4. Pom Klementieff As Mantis
The first bit of casting requires no real speculation since news broke back in October 2015 of Pom Klementieff's involvement in the sequel. And now Gunn has even confirmed the role she will be playing; Mantis. But there's still plenty to explore with this new as it is a little-known actor taking the part and Mantis will likely be a very central character in Vol. 2 and perhaps any further sequels to come. Of French-Russian-Korean background, Klementieff started her acting career in France with a number of small roles in independent films. Her first and only Hollywood credit to date is Spike Lee's ill-advised remake of Oldboy in which she played Sharlto Copley's bodyguard. Although the mere mention of that film doesn't inspire much confidence, its failures cannot be laid at her feet. In fact, Lee's film even allowed her to show off some impressive fighting skills. Something that will no doubt prove useful in GOTG Vol. 2. The inclusion of Mantis is a pretty exciting bit of new as she is a key member of the Guardians crew from the comic series. Mantis is a grandmaster of martial arts, as well as having a few other interesting abilities such as telepathy and the ability to manipulate plants. Like Klementieff, Mantis comes from a diverse background, and even has ties to the Kree empire. Since the Guardians already tangled with the Kree in the first film, it's safe to assume we'll hear more from them in the follow-up and is likely how Mantis will cross paths with the team. Don't be surprised if she is a thorn in the side of the Guardians for a good portion of the film, but it's safe to assume she'll be a part of the roster by the time the credits roll.
