Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Review: 10 Best Moments
1. Yondu Dies
The film's big emotional climax sees Yondu staying on Ego's planet to rescue Peter as it begins to collapse in on itself.
However, Rocket has only one spacesuit and one jetpack, causing Yondu to quickly rescue an unconscious Peter, place a spacesuit on him and fly him away from the danger of Ego's planet.
Peter comes to just in time to realise what Yondu's done, and heartbreakingly has to watch as Yondu is exposed to the vacuum of space and quickly dies.
What follows is an unexpectedly emotional funeral scene for the big blue guy, complete with the Ravagers showing up in force to see him off with a huge fireworks display. Peter calls him his real dad, before using a Zune (yes, a freaking Zune) to play Cat Stevens' iconic classic Father and Son as Yondu's body is cremated.
Props to Michael Rooker for making the most of his expanded role and lending greater meaning to the relationship between himself and Star-Lord.
