Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Review: 8 Ups & 3 Downs

4. The Action

Even though we only really see half of the opening Abilisk battle, the rest of the film has some truly great action sequences that more than make up for it, and even when the plot slows down for more thoughtful sequences, something high-octane is never too far away.

The highlights include the Galaga like drone attack, Rocket's Home Alone style trapping of the Ravagers on Berhert, Yondu's Yaka Arrow attack on the other Ravagers and the climax within Ego. But really, every single action sequence proves how good Gunn handles huge effects-led action scenes.

The scenes are breathlessly entertaining, and studded with the same comedy as the whole film and Gunn definitely uses everything that being within the sci-fi genre allows. Outside of Doctor Strange, this is easily the most out-there Marvel movie.
