Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3: Everything We Know

3. It Will "End The Trilogy"

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 James Gunn rehired
Marvel Studios

With Guardians 3, Gunn will become the first director in the MCU to helm all three instalments in the same trilogy.

That's just as well, because the director has been very open about the fact that the upcoming third film will be the final part of the story he started with the first, wrapping everything up in a neat little trilogy.

This means that Guardians 3 might be the last time we see Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax and Groot - at least, in a Guardians movie. During a Facebook Live Chat in 2017, Gunn stated that the third film will be "the last movie of this version of Guardians Of The Galaxy."

At the same time, that doesn't mean we'll never see another Guardians movie of some description...

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
