There's no two ways about it, the Awesome Mix Tape was part of the reason the first film was an enormous success. It created a human tether in what was otherwise an otherworldly story and provided a raucous tone throughout the movie.

Early on in production Gunn teased us with the announcement that the Awesome Mix Tape Volume 2 track listing was already set in stone. Speculation ran rife for months as to whom would be included on the playlist and with this sparkly new footage came confirmation of two of the tracks. Well, confirmation of sorts. James Gunn just can't help but be a tease.

“Come a Little Bit Closer,” by Jay and the Americans, played during the clip where Yondu faces off against some of the Ravagers.
“The Chain,” by Fleetwood Mac was the song used in the montage.
Am I saying these songs are part of Awesome Mix Vol. 2? Not necessarily. But they are great tunes…"

What is interesting in particular is that "Come a Little Bit Closer" was a huge hit in the sixties - a departure from the sound of the 70's we'd grown accustomed to.

What other surprises are on Awesome Mix Volume 2 remain to be seen....
