Halle Berry: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Patience Phillips - Catwoman (2004)

halleberry-catwoman Yes, we get it. The movie was a bit of an aborted attempt from start to finish really - eschewing all those lovely things like plot, background and history, the film reinvented Catwoman as an ancient Egyptian feline channeling heroine, Patience Phillips, who was rescued from death by cat CPR. Yep. All those things I said were the plot points of an actual film. The film itself is ridiculously bad on its own - aside from the plot which involves addictive facial cream that kills those who try to wean themselves from it and Sharon Stone as a diamond-hard, icy cold villainess. Everyone in the film looks bored with the entire thing, none more so than Halle Berry herself. Berry's performance is utterly lifeless and drained of all spark that usually fills up her roles and it's such a disappointment to see her reduced to a such a taskless, thankless role that she's sleepwalking her way through. At least it makes Anne Hathaway's sublime turn as the real Catwoman such a welcome relief and there's one credit to Berry's name though - when Berry won the Worst Actress Razzie Award, she accepted it gracefully in person with a funny speech. That's a hell of a sign of class.
