Halloween: 15 Most WTF Franchise Moments (So Far)
13. Michael's "Death" Gets Retconned (Halloween: Resurrection)
The seventh Halloween movie, H20: 20 Years Later, was the first to feature Jamie Lee Curtis since Halloween II 17 years prior, and she reportedly only agreed to return if the movie had a conclusive, sequel-bait-free ending.
And that it certainly did, with Laurie Strode finally killing her murderous brother by lopping his head off with an axe. The movie ends literally seconds later as Laurie stands triumphant, and considering the awfulness of the previous three movies, this was actually a fairly dignified "ending" for the franchise.
But of course, it wasn't the end. Halloween: Resurrection hit cinemas in 2002, beginning with a prologue which explains that, in fact, Michael switched uniforms with a paramedic, allowing him to escape while Laurie accidentally decapitated an innocent man.
And why didn't the man say anything? Because, oh-so-conveniently, Michael crushed his larynx to prevent him from speaking. It's an outrageously insulting way to start an extremely terrible sequel, the worst of the lot in fact, and basically plays out like half-baked fan fiction.
