Halloween 2018: Everything We Know So Far

7. It Isn't A Reboot

Laurie Strode's death in Halloween: Resurrection doesn't present any continuity issues for the new film since it's ignoring most of the sequels, but this is no reboot.

David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are striking Halloween III through to VI from the record, as well as H20, Resurrection and the Rob Zombie remakes.

This is for the best since the series lost its way after the second instalment. H20's reception was stronger than most of the other sequels, though still mixed, while Resurrection was panned and the Zombie era removed Michael Myers's scare factor by explaining exactly why he wants to stick a knife in anything that moves.

So, in this new continuity, the last time Myers was seen, he'd become a human fireball during that explosive final showdown with Laurie and Donald Pleasence's Dr Loomis in the hospital at the end of Halloween II. The blast seemingly killed both The Shape and his long-suffering psychiatrist.

When asked about both characters' fates back in 1982, John Carpenter said "The Shape is dead. Pleasence's character is dead, too, unfortunately".

So, explain your way out of this one, John.
