Halloween: Every Franchise Easter Egg And Reference Explained

2. The Bathroom - Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)

Halloween Michael Myers

H20 was the original anniversary sequel back in the nineties and so there are a lot of similarities between the two like Jamie Lee Curtis returning to the franchise, her seeing Michael for the first time through a pain of glass, and a final showdown between the two of them where Laurie becomes the hunter instead of the hunted.

But all of that feels kind of incidental, so we'll stick with the more intentional reference here which comes in the second half of the gas station sequence. In Halloween H20, an early scene revolves around a mother and a daughter stopping at a gas station only to have an encounter with Michael Myers.

In the new film, Dana goes into the restroom at the gas station and has a much more violent encounter with Michael. What both sequences do share though is a heavy emphasis on how gross the restrooms are and especially on tissues or toilet seat wraps. In fact, the new film's bathroom specifically features a '90s era toilet seat wrap dispenser that looks exactly like the ones visible in H20.
