Halloween: Everything You Need To Know About Michael Myers

4. He's The Ultimate Voyeur

Michael Myers loves to watch people. Regardless of what timeline or section of the franchise you're talking about, Michael is consistently a lurker who spends an uncomfortable amount of time simply observing his victims, and its one of his defining traits.

It's no mistake that Carpenter's original film literally opens on a long-take in which the audience is forced to take on Michael's voyeuristic perspective. And the slow-moving, long tracking shots of that first film as a whole are emulative of this exact same style.

Myers spends a huge chunk of the film simply watching characters. Before there was ever any 'she's your sister' mythology, Michael became obsessed with Laurie Strode after he watched her come to drop off letters at his old house.

And while later films obviously took a different route in terms of motivations for Michael, the voyeurism is still very much there. He may be after a member of his family, but you can be sure he's going to spend a huge chunk of the movie's runtime simply observing the questionable actions of their friends and family before killing them.
