Halloween Kills: 10 Biggest WTF Moments

2. That Halloween II Footage

With much of Halloween Kills opening being a fairly faithful recreation of nineteen-seventies Haddonfield, viewers shouldn't be surprised to know that some footage from the original film is spliced into this one.

These clips are used sparingly, mostly for the sake of flashbacks, but there's one inclusion that has left fans of the franchise scratching their heads as to why it was included.

Halfway through the film, we're shown a flashback of Sherrif Brackett seeing the corpse of his daughter Annie being removed from the Wallace house. Now, this would likely have been an event that occurred in the new timeline in some form or another, but the footage shown is from Halloween II, a film that this new trilogy has retconned.

So in essence, we're being shown something that technically didn't happen?

It's a bit of a strange inclusion, but it's understandable as to why the filmmakers thought it was necessary. Most likely because it's far cheaper to simply edit pre-existing footage into the film instead of shooting a whole new scene. Especially one that has to emulate a film that was made forty years ago, right down to the clothes, locations, and finding actors that resemble the original cast members.
