Halloween: Ranking The Movies From Worst To Best

5. Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982, Tommy Lee Wallace)

Halloween 3 Despite the success of Halloween and Halloween 2, someone had the bright idea of leaving the Myers/Strode family drama behind and instead make each new sequel a stand-alone horror movie set on Halloween night. The uproar was enough to convince producer Moustapha Akkad that it was a mistake to steer the series away from the unstoppable killer storyline and quickly laid the new idea to rest. Be that as it may, Halloween 3: The Season of the Witch still exists and is - like it or not - an official part of the Halloween movie franchise experience. There isn't a great deal to say about part 3 except that as a stand-alone horror movie it isn't all that bad. It is a cautionary tale about the effects of capitalism on young children, with the idea that the very Halloween masks children buy to scare people with for fun take on a life of their own and change the kids into horrible little monsters. Nothing new there then, huh? It was the lack of Michael Myers - especially at the end of the film - that caused the most anger amongst fans and to this day the resentment towards this movie has not subsided. However, love it or hate it, you cannot deny that Halloween 3 is still one of the better sequels.
