Han Solo Movie: 5 Reasons To Be Excited (And 5 To Be Worried)

Worried...

5. Do We Need It?

As mentioned, there's a counter-argument to the idea of fleshing out Han Solo further with an, er, solo movie, although it's not so much a question of ruining any mystique the character has.

Instead, it's to do with those beats mentioned earlier: Meeting Chewie and the life debt; the game of Sabacc, golden dice, and winning the Falcon; the Kessel Run.

It's very easy to imagine a version of the film - and without a trailer or anything else to go on, it's hard to know what we'll get - that simply exists to put these on-screen, jumping from one legendary beat to the next and not giving us much else in between. Those moments are cool, but they desperately need to be underpinned by character and plot, and there's a reasonable worry that this film could end up being a collection of those iconic moments rather than a cohesive, more multifaceted whole.
