3. It's Goofy & Satirical

While the balance ultimately tips a little too far in favour of comedy rather than horror, at least the film's humour is genuinely funny, even with its PG-13 limitations.

Rothe's energetic performance and lively delivery definitely helps boost some of the film's wonkier one-liners, but at least there has been a clear effort here to satirise vapid college culture, from stuck-up sorority sisters to goofball frat boys and everyone in-between.

The satire isn't laid on that thickly to avoid alienating the teen crowd, but it still ensures that the film is smarter and more self-aware than you might've expected from the marketing.
