Harry Potter: 10 Best Characters Who Aren’t Witches Or Wizards

There was never going to be another choice for the top spot. Dobby is simply one of the most loveable characters in fiction.

In The Chamber of Secrets, he’s a bit of a nightmare, however, as he spends his time trying to injure Harry in order to make him leave Hogwarts. He fails, of course, and despite all the disruption he causes, Harry sets Dobby free at the end of his second year.

Dobby returns in The Goblet of Fire when Harry visits him in the Hogwarts kitchens. His reaction to seeing his old friend is adorable and he also aids Harry in the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament. Dobby’s willingness to help also comes in useful during Harry’s fifth year when he reveals the location of the Room of Requirement.

Yet the best moment of Dobby’s career is his rescue attempt from Malfoy Manor, during which he takes on the Death Eaters and brings our heroes back to safety. Unfortunately, he doesn’t survive this adventure and dies from Bellatrix’s stab wound.

It’s a tragic end to one of the most beloved characters in Harry Potter, but no-one will ever forget Dobby’s sacrifice. Even the coldest of hearts can’t help but admire this innocent and noble elf.
