Harry Potter: 10 Hardest Spells To Master

1. Creating A Horcrux

Some magic is so dark, and so terrible, that it is stored away and hidden from new generations of witches and wizards. This is what happened with the knowledge of how to create a Horcrux, until Tom Riddle discovered the truth from Professor Slughorn.

Not only is this particular branch of magic incredibly evil, it is also one of the most difficult feats to achieve. Naturally, splitting part of your soul away from the rest to live within something else doesn't come without a great amount of twisted skill, let alone doing it seven times.

Little is known about the specifics of the spell, however we do know it comes from committing murder. This, an act of such unrivaled evil, breaks the killer's soul, allowing them to bind it to either an object, or in the case of Nagini and Harry, another living being. This kind of magic is not only impossible, but unthinkable, to just about every witch or wizard, with the exception of only Lord Voldemort and an Ancient Greek wizard by the name of Herpo the Foul.

Not only is casting the spell one of the most difficult things any wizard could ever dream of doing, particularly since only two are known to have ever actually done it, living with a fractured soul is essentially living in constant torture.
