Harry Potter: 10 Hardest Spells To Master
2. Flight
Flight in itself is nothing special in the magical world of Harry Potter. Students at Hogwarts are taught how to ride a broomstick in their first year, and the biggest sport known to wizard-kind is based around it. However, here the wizard is not technically flying themselves, they are riding a broom that is doing the flying.
For a witch or wizard to be able to fly by themselves was long thought to be an impossibility, beyond performing the Animagus spell and transforming into a bird of some kind. Lord Voldemort however, found a way to achieve this incredible feat.
It is unclear whether the Dark Lord discovered a previously hidden method of flying, or invented the spell himself, as Snape did with Sectumsempra, however there was no denying what was seen during the Battle of the Seven Potters.
Described in the books as flying like smoke on the wind, with no broomstick or Thestral, Voldemort had undoubtedly mastered the spell that had evaded the rest of wizard-kind for centuries. As Mr. Ollivander once said to Harry, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things - terrible, yes, but great.
