7. Legilimens
Legilimency is quite a unique facet of the Wizarding World. While some, like Queenie Goldstein, are born with the ability, naturally able to read people's minds without even trying, most need to learn it if they want to see into people's heads. Those most skilled, like Lord Voldemort, or Albus Dumbledore, are able to do this without the need of a wand or any incantation, but for the rest, a mastery of the Legilimens spell is required.
Even a great Legilimens who has mastered the spell can find themselves failing to read the mind of their subject. The direct defence against the art is Occlumency, which Snape took to teaching Harry in Order of the Phoenix, to prevent Voldemort from reading his mind.
No matter how skilled a Legilimens a witch or wizard may be, if there is a subject with a strong grasp on Occlumency, the spell will be worthless. Even Queenie was unable to see into Gellert Grindlewald's mind, and she could literally perform Legilimency without even thinking about it.
