9. Alphard Black – Gave Financial Aid To His Nephew

Alphard Black was mentioned just once in the original Harry Potter novels. Specifically, his name can be found in the sixth chapter of The Order of the Phoenix during a conversation between Harry and his godfather.

After Sirius ran away from home, Alphard left him a decent amount of gold to help him get a better start in life. He was the only relative who supported Sirius during this difficult time and the rest of the family did not take to his generosity and his image was promptly struck from the family tree.

Beyond this, there was no other information given about the nature of Sirius’s relationship with his Uncle Alphard. Like his nephew, Alphard may have been hostile to his family’s nonsensical fixation with the purity of their blood. But even if he wasn’t as outspoken as Sirius, his decision to go against the family’s wishes and help his nephew was a noble thing to do.
