Harry Potter: 10 Movie Scenes That Are Completely Different In The Books

5. Felix Felicis (The Half-Blood Prince)

Goblet Of Fire Angry Dumbledore
Warner Brothers

In The Book: Harry drinks lucky potion Felix Felicis, which steers him in all the right directions to get Slughorn to give him the memory he needs.

In The Film: The films have a lot of fun with Felix Felicis, portraying Harry as slightly tipsy (a nice change from his usually serious persona), and Daniel Radcliffe clearly has a lot of fun with the scene.

Summary: While book Harry witnesses Slughorn and Hagrid share some comedic moments, film Harry is at the centre of the comedy, sneaking up on Slughorn, shouting 'hi!' at unsuspecting strangers and recreating the sound of a dead spider's pincers. Daniel Radcliffe nails the one time he actually gets to smile in the whole series, and so the film sequence is the clear winner.
