9. When She Figured Out Professor Lupin Was A Werewolf – The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Professor Lupin was easily the best Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher Harry ever had. Unfortunately, he wasn’t always available to teach owing to his condition as a werewolf.
Snape – who deeply disliked Lupin owing to their time as students together – set Harry’s class an essay on werewolves in the hope someone would figure out Lupin’s secret.
Unsurprisingly, Hermione was the only one to make the connection. As well as noticing Lupin was always ill at the full moon, she also recalled how his boggart turned into the moon during their first Defence Against the Dark Arts class.
Granted, her discovery wasn’t really relevant to the overall plot given the Hogwarts staff already knew of Lupin’s condition. However, it was still a great exemplification of Hermione’s observational skills.
