Harry Potter: 10 Weird Rules A Student At Hogwarts Must Follow
1. No Electronic Equipment
Hogwarts may be an incredible school that helps its students better themselves, learn magic and forge friendships that will last a lifetime. But, it's an institution that'd undoubtedly behind in the times. This is most evident from the fact that electronic equipment, particularly anything that uses Wi-Fi, isn't allowed.
You've got to imagine this is particularly hard on the muggle-born characters, who only enter Hogwarts after being made aware of its existence post their 11th birthday. This means they've lived their youth with such technology, only to be stripped of it suddenly. No phones, no laptops, they are forced to go technologically cold-turkey.
There are many reasons why this rule exists, and it's likely down to the fact that such devices wouldn't work. The school grounds are located in an entirely remote area, where signal towers are probably rarer than unicorns. Furthermore, it's likely that many professors don't know about technology, so they wouldn't manage the students who use it.
Despite these valid reasons, it still seems unfair and likely proves why the pupils are always getting into trouble; they're just plain bored.
