Harry Potter: 10 Weird Rules A Student At Hogwarts Must Follow
Including a ban on apparating and technology, these are the weirdest Harry Potter Hogwarts rules.
The world of Hogwarts seems incredibly appealing, to the extent that plenty of people are still waiting on their acceptance letters into the fictional school. While the concept of learning spells and being sorted into a house might seem like fun and games, there's a lot about it that isn't as inviting.
On the surface, you have issues like constantly facing your mortality thanks to the numerous beasts, some rather lacklustre security measures leading to consistently inadequate staffing, and a lack of real connection to the outside world.
However, one of the most notable downsides to training in the magical arts is the overwhelming amount of rules.
In a boarding school, you're likely to encounter plenty of guidelines. These are put in place to manage the pupils, create safety and establish a sense of order. Despite some of the more reasonable requests, there are plenty of downright strange regulations at the magical academy that are pretty mind-boggling.
While you'd undoubtedly be content learning how to ride a broomstick and throwing out great spells, would you enjoy the rules and regulations that come with them?
10. Students Cannot Enter The Forbidden Forest Unless They Have Detention
The weirdest thing about this rule is that it's completely acceptable, up to a point.
If there's a dangerous area surrounding the school, which forbids entrance in its name, then it's not unreasonable to ask the students to stay away from it. Although blocking off an area can be seen as an invasion of the pupils' freedom, they'd likely prefer a bit of protection over being eaten by giant spiders.
Still, what makes this rule absurd is that there is an acceptance to it in the form of detention students. It seems that although this was one of the only crimes mentioned by Dumbledore in his welcoming speech, it doesn't apply to those who've misbehaved.
Viewers got to be direct witnesses to this after Draco, Neville and Harry were taken into the forbidden forest with Hagrid due to their getting detention. What's worse is that the faculty know the danger of the place, but don't seem to care if it means punishment for the misbehaving students.
You may have thought your school was strict, but did they send you into a monster-infested forest for a minor grievance?
