5. Failed To Teach Harry Occlumency
Harry has a difficult time in his fifth year. As well as the Daily Prophet’s lies, our hero has to contend with cruel remarks from his fellow students and the villainy of Professor Umbridge.
To make matters worse, Harry has to learn Occlumency with Snape, and these lessons are nothing short of a disaster. Harry is supposed to be ridding his mind of all emotion to stop Voldemort from penetrating his mind, but Snape’s teaching methods are useless.
He spends more time throwing insults than actually teaching, so it’s hardly surprising Harry is unable to rid his mind of all emotion. And following Harry’s trip into Snape’s teenage memories, the Occlumency lessons are stopped altogether.
Though Harry is relieved about the change of circumstances, Snape’s decision to stop the lessons is ludicrous. It leaves Harry’s mind open to manipulation, allowing Voldemort to plant a false vision inside his head.
