4. When He Messed Up The Second Task – The Goblet Of Fire
The Second Task was not a pleasant experience for Harry. Things started to go wrong before the task even started. Despite Hermione’s insistence that he should try and solve the egg’s clue as quickly as possible, Harry spent several months ignoring her advice.
As for the task itself, he completely misjudges the whole situation. After discovering the four prisoners at the bottom of the lake, Harry spends several minutes waiting around for his fellow competitors to turn up. Unlike the other three champions, he genuinely believed the captives would drown if they weren’t rescued inside the time limit.
Such a lack of judgement is quite astonishing for a boy who is so magically gifted. If he’d just grabbed Ron and returned to the surface, he would have easily scored the most points and been the clear favourite heading into the final task of the tournament.
