Harry Potter New TV Show: 25 Castings That Must Happen

10. Eva Green As Bellatrix Lestrange

If there's one member of the adult Harry Potter cast who really missed the mark, it's Helena Bonham Carter.

She turned Bellatrix Lestrange - one of the most horrifying antagonists in the books - into a hammy pantomime villain and over-acted her way through the latter half of the series, so one hopes that the reboot will get her right.

And Eva Green would be just the right actress to bring her to life.

Although Green has found herself in quite a few bad movies over the years, she is pretty much always one of the best things in them, since she has such great screen presence and is also very good at playing villains. In Tim Burton's 2012 dud Dark Shadows, her femme-fatale villain was the one great thing in an otherwise terrible movie. Similarly, she was easily one of the best things in the hit-or-miss Sin City sequel.

Perhaps most importantly, Green is also measured, and conveys an awful lot without hamming it up. In her hands, Bellatrix would almost certainly be the sinister and chilling presence she was in the books, rather than the OTT character from the films.
