Harry Potter New TV Show: 25 Castings That Must Happen
3. Jared Harris As Albus Dumbledore
Dumbledore is one of the most important characters in the series, and aside from the infamous "Did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?!?!?!" scene (which was so ill-judged it actually became a meme), the movies did a fantastic job with him: Richard Harris, Michael Gambon, and Jude Law were all great.
So, who should be the next actor to play him? Enter Jared Harris.
Aside from the fact that he's an actor who classes up anything and everything he's in (even 2022's hideous Morbius), he'd be able to capture exactly the right vibe for Dumbledore.
Harris is a nuanced, understated actor who quietly commands the scene, and this is what's needed for the role. He can capture the wise, warm, and powerful wizard onscreen (his turn as King George VI in The Crown gave off strong Dumbledore vibes) but he's equally skilled at showier parts too, such as his menacing turn as Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
Also, Jared is the son of the late Richard Harris, who played the character in the first two films. Casting him would be a lovely way to honour his much-missed father.
