Every coming-of-age story needs a wise parental figure who can cut through the ignorance of youth and offer some words of wisdom.

Throughout the Harry Potter series, Albus Dumbledore provides the titular character with an array of life lessons, touching upon themes such as love, loss, morality, and individual agency. He’s also a spellcasting powerhouse who’s capable of extraordinary magic.

Rupert Giles fulfils a similar role. He guides Buffy and the gang through their many adventures, providing them with knowledge, tools, and emotional support in times of need. But, unlike Dumbledore, Giles is often at the forefront of the action and is more than willing to accompany the gang as they tackle the demons of Sunnydale.

Crucially, both Dumbledore and Giles are some of the most quotable characters in their respective stories. The two men have a large roster of iconic lines, ranging from humorous observations to invaluable pieces of advice.

For this quiz, you’ll need to figure out whether it was Dumbledore or Giles who said these lines. And whilst some of them are pretty easy to distinguish, others will be much more of a challenge.
