Harry Potter: Ranking All Defence Against The Dark Arts Teachers From Worst To Best
5. Quirinus Quirrell
It speaks to the quality, or lack thereof, of Hogwarts' Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers, to say that the man who physically housed Lord Voldemort on the back of his head was not the worst that Harry ever had.
After leaving Hogwarts in search of Lord Voldemort, Quirrell returned under the spell of the Dark Lord, actually allowing the being that was once Tom Riddle into the castle walls, just a stone's throw from the precision Philosopher's Stone.
The fact that the Ravenclaw professor was so easily manipulated and corrupted by Lord Voldermort is proof in itself that he had no place teaching first years how to defend against such dangers.
At the end of Harry's first Hogwarts year he had learned nothing from his Defence Against the Dark Arts classes. Usually, this would solidify the teacher's title as the worst he ever had, however Professor Quirrell is not Dolores Umbridge, so he basically misses out on the last spot by default.
