Harry Potter: Ranking Every Major Magical Family From Worst To Best
8. The Longbottoms
Harry is regularly in the company of Neville Longbottom throughout his six years at Hogwarts. And though he’s very accident-prone, Neville’s good heart makes him an easy character to root for.
What’s more, he has one of the best character arcs in the series. By the end of The Deathly Hallows, his bumbling mannerisms and poor memory skills are a thing of the past. Without the help of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, he leads the rebellion against the Carrows during his final year and even manages to destroy Voldemort’s final Horcrux.
Neville’s parents (Frank and Alice Longbottom) were both highly-trained Aurors and members of the Order of the Phoenix during the First Wizarding War. But their lives were torn apart by four of Voldemort’s Death Eaters who tortured them into insanity.
As such, though Neville’s storyline is one of the most satisfying in the franchise, the Longbottom family is also wrought with tragedy.
