Harry Potter & The Cursed Child: 18 Biggest WTF Moments
17. Ron The Fool
I have no problem with the idea of Ron as comic relief: it worked well in the films and the books to a lesser (or at least less clownish) extent, but the portrayal of him in The Cursed Child really doesn't ring true.
It's almost as if Ron has become an amalgam of his twin brothers - Fred and George - a magic trick, perpetually joking fool, only without their whip-sharp intellect and taste for anarchy. In the absence of either of them, Ron has become the de facto class clown, and it's no real surprise Hermione grew sick of him.
This guy was supposed to be an auror (at least temporarily), despite not having any qualifications (so he must have been pretty damn good). And now he's reduced to giving out love potions to people, despite knowing full well what damage they can do on the victim first hand.
