Harry Potter: The Progressively Harder Half-Blood Prince Quiz

Harry’s sixth adventure is an interesting one. With the wizarding world fully aware of the Dark Lord’s return, there’s a sense of foreboding throughout this movie. At the same time, there’s plenty of humour as well, and these lighter moments are arguably the best parts of the story.

Professor Slughorn, for instance, is a great addition to the Potterverse. Jim Broadbent’s performance is a wonderful combination of fatherly affection and blundering buffoonery. Yet it’s Ron who really steals the show when it comes to humour. His first foray into the world of romance is far from ideal, which leads to plenty of comedic moments.

It’s just a shame the romance between Harry and Ginny is so misjudged – there’s no spark to their relationship at all. And just like the last two movies, book fans always complain about the amount of missing content. Voldemort’s past is particularly disappointing.

Still, book comparisons aside, it’s hard not to enjoy The Half-Blood Prince. The humour elevates the story considerably, making it one of the most rewatchable movies in the franchise.
