In the Order of the Phoenix, Voldemort's return is never questioned by those closest to him. Dumbledore's allies recognize Harry's criticality to the machinationsHe-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, and take every precaution to protect him and his friends.

Indeed, Harry and the others nearly miss the train to Hogwarts that year waiting on Sturgis, who was tasked, along with Mad-Eye Moody, to be one of the escorts to the train station. Eventually, it is revealed Podmore was detained attempting to pass through security within the Ministry of Magic. For his troubles, Sturgis Podmore was sent to Azkaban Prison to be held at the mercy of the Dementors, the ghostly wardens of the inescapable edifice.

Podmore's failure to recognize the corruption that was brewing within the Ministry and thinking himself capable enough to subvert it ultimately lead to the Order losing yet another valuable ally.
