In the movie, Nimue's dramatic summoning of an army of evil creatures serves as an exciting way to feature all the best comic baddies the CGI department could put together.

The most interesting of these included creatures, however, is by far the frog monsters that come at the front of the crowd. The strange, slightly gross frog creatures are actually some of the first enemies Hellboy fights in the comic, and so it's a nice touch to see them make it into the film.
