Hobbs & Shaw Trailer Reaction: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

2. The Dodgy CGI

In fairness, all of the Fast & Furious movies have served up their share of janky CGI, and some might even argue that the wonkiness of the effects adds to the goofy, trashy charm of the set-pieces.

But make no mistake, some of the VFX in this trailer look straight-up ugly, with cars flying through the air as blurry, shapeless blobs, with an inconsistent approach to even this series' already-loose grasp on physics.

It probably won't be a deal-breaker, and Universal has six whole months to keep iterating on the effects, but as great as this trailer is, the CGI does look rather on the cheap side despite the film's clearly stonking budget.
