20 Horror Franchises That NEED To Come Back

15. [REC]

[REC] Angela
Filmax

[REC] is one of the few found footage films to well and truly stand the test of time - it's as gut-wrenchingly intense today as it was back in 2007, and its 2009 sequel [REC] 2 is almost as great.

After this the series undeniably lost its momentum, with [REC] 3: Genesis ditching the found footage style altogether while focusing on entirely different characters.

But in 2014 we finally got a direct sequel to the first two films, even if [REC] 4: Apocalypse was largely deemed a disappointment by most fans.

Though the fourth film provides definitive enough closure for the central characters, it does nevertheless tease the future re-emergence of the diabolic parasite.

[REC] 5 probably isn't the way to go, but a soft reboot or legacy sequel which carries the series' intense found footage ethos forward?

There'd surely be an audience for that, especially if original star Manuela Velasco could be convinced to return.
