20 Horror Movie Happy Endings Nobody Saw Coming

Considering that In a Violent Nature is presented as a subversive "arthouse" take on a typical slasher film like Friday the 13th, we probably should've realised it might skirt a few of the genre's most tired cliches.

Case in point, in the film's third act Final Girl Kris (Andrea Pavlovic) seemingly escapes masked murderer Johnny (Ry Barrett) and is picked up by a passing motorist (Lauren-Marie Taylor).

Upon spotting Kris' gravely injured leg, the woman insists on stopping her car to tie a tourniquet around it, despite Kris' overpowering fear that Johnny is going to catch up to them.

Now, we as the audience are either expecting Johnny to emerge out of the woods and kill Kris, or for the motorist to be revealed as Johnny's secret accomplice.

But hilariously, neither nightmare scenario happens - Kris gets her leg cleaned up and is driven safely away, the motorist is genuinely just a good Samaritan, and it's even suggested that Johnny is now finally at rest. D'aww.

Granted, given that a sequel has already been shot, things won't be staying peaceful for very long.
