20 Horror Movies You Should Watch Totally BLIND
19. From Dusk till Dawn
Granted, the legacy of the Robert Rodriguez-helmed Quentin Tarantino-scripted From Dusk till Dawn is such that going into it blind is incredibly difficult for any card-carrying genre buff.
But if you're lucky enough to have neither seen it nor know much about it yet - just go watch it, like, right now.
Without saying too much, Rodriguez's film executes a devilishly clever sleight of hand with regard to its genre and tone, being sold through its marketing as one movie but eventually mutating into something quite different.
It's a massive creative gamble that could've backfired spectacularly, but ultimately results in an absolute riot.
From Dusk till Dawn is arguably one of the most purely entertaining genre films of the entire 1990s, and further enlivened by Rodriguez's energetic filmmaking, Tarantino's fittingly pulpy script, and the fine efforts of a crackerjack ensemble including the likes of George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Cheech Marin, Fred Williamson, Salma Hayek, Tom Savini, and yes, even Tarantino himself.
