Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation Review - 4 Ups & 5 Downs
2. The Incredibly Lame Fart Gags
Though the Hotel Transylvania movies should be mildly applauded for not over-indulging in desperate pop-culture references or infantile poopy pants humour, the film does feature two eyeroll-worthy fart gags.
The sequence involves Ericka Van Helsing attempting to poison Dracula with guacamole laced with garlic oil, but rather than kill him, the oil merely causes him some intestinal discomfort, leading to a squeaky fart.
Because once apparently wasn't enough, the gag is then repeated a few moments later with Dracula's daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez), and the law of diminished returns is very much in play here.
Granted, the very youngest kids may well get a laugh out of it - which is really the important thing here - but considering how the rest of the film skirts clear of lazy toilet humour, it's a shame it's even indulged at all.
