How Avengers: Endgame Completely Changes The MCU

2. Steve Has Passed On The Captain America Title

While Tony was obviously the biggest loss in Endgame, what shouldn't overlooked is that, going forward, we're not only looking at a universe without an Iron Man, but without a Steve Rogers. When returning to the past to drop off the Infinity Stones, Steve decided to stay there and live a life of domestic bliss with Peggy Carter rather than return to his own time.

Instead, he turns up to meet his friends at the same time he disappeared having lived a full life in the past, no longer someone out of time. More importantly, though, he appoints Sam Wilson as the new Captain America. Though there were plenty of rumours circulating that it would be Bucky, not Sam, who takes on the title next, it certainly makes more sense within the movie universe's story that it would be Falcon.

We already know that a Sam/Bucky series is in the works at Disney Plus, and now the question remains whether or not that will feature the former hero suited up as the new Captain America. Marvel might use this to ease people into the transition, or they may end up saving his debut for the next Avengers film, or even a new solo movie.
