2. A New Leader

Captain Marvel isn't just going to play a key role in Avengers 4, but will take on one of the most important tasks going forwards: leading the MCU.

With the universe's current leaders Steve Rogers and Tony Stark likely on the way out, someone else needs to step up and carry things forward, whether that's in a literal sense in Avengers movies or a more figurative path-shaping for what comes next.

In both senses, Carol Danvers is going to be at the forefront, with Kevin Feige himself saying she'll lead the MCU. The character is closer to Captain America than Iron Man in ideals, but with different powers and links to the wider cosmos, which should make for a different kind of leader than we've seen previously, helping to take the MCU in the bold new directions necessary for Phase 4, and Brie Larson is more than up to the job.
