How Captain Marvel Will Change The MCU
1. Skrull Invasion
Captain Marvel will be diving into the Kree-Skrull War, a seminal story from the Silver Age. While it won't be an exact adaptation of that, instead following in the typical Marvel fashion of borrowing certain elements and making them fit the movie, it's undoubtedly going to be a key part not only in the film itself, but for what comes next in the MCU.
There's the potential here to lay the groundwork for a Skrull invasion of Earth, and perhaps an adaptation of something like Secret Invasion. Captain Marvel can seed the idea of the Skrulls invading, something that can be further alluded to in Avengers 4 - potentially with a big reveal - and lead to a series of potential stories that could play out across Phase 4 with shocking, galaxy-altering results.
