How Freddy Krueger Became A Joke In 10 Easy Quotes

2. €œYou are all my children now.€ €“ Part 2 (1985)

In A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy€™s Revenge, all the rules are broken. Although this fascinating sequel doesn€™t yet contain the full boisterous nature of the jokester Freddy, it does contain some wonderfully gay undertones€ Did I say undertones? Let me rephrase really quick, it€™ll only take a second: this movie is a super gloriously gay gore fest. We€™ve got innuendo, locker room shower scenes, sexy boys hiding out in bedrooms together, a leather bound gym coach, and a slightly feminine male hero who can€™t have sex with his girlfriend and keeps complaining that Freddy wants to €œget inside of his body€. But maybe I€™m reading too much into it. As the film reaches its finale, Freddy is released from the dream world into an 80s teen pool party world. The difference between the two worlds is very slight. He slashes and dashes the guests, then stands, lit from behind by the naked flame of a broken barbeque, and announces, €œYou are all my children now.€ His dialogue has a similar mean spirited flair from the original film. He€™s yet to acquire the whit needed to conjure up such gems as €œNow we€™re cooking!€ or €œI€™ll take mine medium rare€ and screaming.€ But that€™s why we have Nightmare 3.

I have a keen, almost obsessive fascination with the macabre. It has lead me from a quiet life growing up in a small town to where I am now; creating horrific works about horrific things in many different mediums including films, short stories and essays. I live life by a simple motto: learn to like the dark, cause eventually, it'll come for all of us (lightening flashes and thunder claps)... but it ain't so bad.
