In A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddys Revenge, all the rules are broken. Although this fascinating sequel doesnt yet contain the full boisterous nature of the jokester Freddy, it does contain some wonderfully gay undertones Did I say undertones? Let me rephrase really quick, itll only take a second: this movie is a super gloriously gay gore fest. Weve got innuendo, locker room shower scenes, sexy boys hiding out in bedrooms together, a leather bound gym coach, and a slightly feminine male hero who cant have sex with his girlfriend and keeps complaining that Freddy wants to get inside of his body. But maybe Im reading too much into it. As the film reaches its finale, Freddy is released from the dream world into an 80s teen pool party world. The difference between the two worlds is very slight. He slashes and dashes the guests, then stands, lit from behind by the naked flame of a broken barbeque, and announces, You are all my children now. His dialogue has a similar mean spirited flair from the original film. Hes yet to acquire the whit needed to conjure up such gems as Now were cooking! or Ill take mine medium rare and screaming. But thats why we have Nightmare 3.
