3. Welcome to prime time, bitch. Part 3 (1987)
A lot of people include A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors among their favourites in the franchise. Some even go as far as to put it at the top of the list. This is the film that veered Freddy onto a more comical stage and at the very least his vaudeville routine is a knee-slapper, which is at least something. A young aspiring actress falls asleep while watching television. From the sides of the T.V. burst two mechanical arms that snatch her up from where she stands. Freddys head morphs out of the top and he says, This is it Jennifer, your big break in T.V. Welcome to prime time, bitch! then smashes her face into the glass tube. The line is darkly funny, outrageous and stays true to the trappings of the story. On the plus side, its a very entertaining departure from the original film, on the mopey sad side, the power Freddy once held as a terrifying nightmare stalker is pretty much dispelled by his new found charisma.
